ALBUM REVIEWS : CLUB 8 - THE PEOPLE'S RECORD

I guess that you’re bored of this too long winter as well and so it’s time for some record that gives us some sunshine, so what about Club 8?
Yes indeed, we are talking about the nice Swedish duo who are giving us since 1995 all those nice indiepoptunes whose first releases were on the mighty Siesta Records.
Back then they were compared a lot with Camera Obscura, JJ or Kings Of Convenience but more and more, we saw them going into the direction of bossa nova.
After the huge success from their former album “The boy who couldn’t stop dreaming” both Karolina Komstedt and Johan Angergärd decided to pack their bags and go to Brazil in seek for some inspiration.
The result can be heard on this mighty cd which has been produced by Jari Haapalainen who is famous (well kind of…) for his work with Camera Obscura and The Concretes.
The result is absolutely amazing and Club 8 presents here melancholic melodies that are mixed with a salsasound.
If you ever should wonder how Belle & Sebastian would have sounded if they were remixed by Herb Alpert, I guess “The people’s record” by Club 8 could have been the answer!
